There is something I notice every time I open my Instagram feed or scroll through the websites of professional women.

Photographs that don’t match the woman behind them.

A headshot taken years ago — before the business launched, before the promotion, before she became who she is now. A phone photo propped against a wall. A corporate image that captured her face but missed everything that makes her extraordinary. Or worse — no photograph at all, because she’s been waiting. Waiting until she loses the weight. I know this woman. I’ve spent ten years photographing her.

My name is Belinda Vickerson. I’m an award-winning portrait and branding photographer, and I’ve spent the last decade doing one thing: photographing women the way they deserve to be seen.

I’m based in Southwest Georgia. I studied Photography at Howard University and spent over fifteen years in sales and marketing before I brought everything I knew about branding, strategy, and storytelling into my work behind the lens. I understand what a powerful image does for a woman’s business — because I understand business.

But more than that, I understand what a powerful image does for a woman herself.

There is a moment in almost every session I’ve ever done. It happens when I turn the camera around and show her what I see. Her eyes change. Her shoulders drop. Something that had been braced — waiting to be disappointed, waiting to be told she isn’t enough — releases.

That is what I do. The photograph is just the proof.
