Preparing for Your Photoshoot

Preparation for your session is key to its success! Here are a few tips to help you get ready to shine:

CLOTHING

Try everything on at least a week before your session. I can’t tell you how many times clients have shown up with buttons missing, stains in clothing, or things that just don’t fit like they once did. It happens, and it usually happens when there is no time for a “plan B”. So try everything on well before your session so you have time to make adjustments or changes if need be. Make sure all clothing is clean, fits well, and is in good condition. Have your items professionally cleaned, pressed and on hangers for your session.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

Make your hair appointment the morning of or the day before your session. If you’re having an outdoor session, make sure to tell your hairstylist so they can prepare your hair for the elements. For makeup, prep your skin for the perfect shot! Remember, hydration is key. You’ll want to arrive at your makeup appointment with a clean and moisturized face so drink lots of water and moisturize your beautiful face to achieve that radiant, camera-ready glow. You’ll be lit from within! Don’t forget to pamper those lips! Exfoliate gently with a sugar scrub, then swipe on your favorite lip balm. Get ready to rock that perfect pout in every frame!

WHAT TO BRING

Consider bringing props that reflect your personality or brand, like a musical instrument, signs, or books. Having a change of clothes is also a good idea, offering variety and a different look and feel for your photos. Additionally, pack a small emergency kit with essentials like safety pins, wet wipes, a lint roller, and a stain remover pen. Make sure to bring water, snacks, and anything else to keep everyone happy during the session. For the girls, pack makeup for touch-ups. Don’t forget to bring your shoes, accessories, or additional items you want to include in your session.

BONUS TIPS

Get a good night’s rest before your session. You’ll want to be bright eyed and well rested for your photoshoot! Take the day off if possible. Preparing for a session can be a lot of work, especially if your preparing for a family session, so take the day and take your time. Arrive 5-10 minutes early to your session so you’ll have time for those last minute touches to perfect the look.

And most importantly, prepare yourself to relax and have fun! That is were the magic happens and that is how we create a great experience and wonderful memories!

I hope this helps you prepare for your next session.

See you soon,
